After a long time since their last outing in ‘Social Cues’, the Kentucky boys Cage the Elephant are back with their newest single ‘Neon Pill’.
Reminiscent of the soft vocals from their Grammy winning album Tell Me I’m Pretty and the wavey guitar and synths of ‘Social Cues’, Neon Pill is a gorgeous reintroduction to the band after their 5 year disappearance.
This new track as mentioned before mainly sticks to the themes introduced in their last record, which I was personally a huge fan of. Fans have been quite vocal of the newest release, wanting the band to delve back into their roots, to reintroduce the fast paced guitars and drums from their debut as well as Thank You Happy Birthday.
Neon Pill screams sophistication and togetherness as every part doesn't seem out of place. Co-written by Romanian songwriter Vlad Holiday, it is clear to see his influence in the track's lyricism, trippy hook all coming from his view behind rose-tinted glasses.
Their growth as people and as a band are something to behold. I am incredibly excited for the upcoming album, whenever that may be, and this first track, as per, is filling me with hope.
