Sheffield based Indie rock band CRUZ release new single ‘Disco Colour Beams’ which was released on October 27th. The single appears on their debut EP ‘If Not Now, When?’, arriving on the 24th of November. Opening with an echoey guitar riff which haunts listeners, ‘Disco Colour Beams’ is melodically introduced with a hint of suspense with the riff repeating four times prior to an increase in tempo. Staccato drums build excitement complimenting the rhythm guitar in the background.
Lyrics aid the upbeat tempo giving a sense of euphoria which is retained within the chorus with the last word in each sentence being elongated. Reminiscent of Oasis, one of the bands influences, it is almost certain that the chorus will create an electric atmosphere when performed live. The increase in tempo towards the end of the single, alongside the drums becoming more prominent, grips listeners before leaving them with a ringing guitar causing the crave for more.
‘Disco Colour Beams’ will no doubt receive praise from fans throughout CRUZ’s winter gigs supporting Arctic Numpties and The View. The band will also headline their own gigs in both York and their hometown Sheffield.
